December Update: Hilltopper Wrestling
On Wednesday December 13th, The Worcester Academy Hilltoppers Wrestling team took on Loomis Chaffee and Deerfield Academy in our own Daniel’s Gymnasium. Although the team as a whole did not win today, there were some great individual victories. Highlights included a win by junior Aidan Ormsby.
The Worcester Academy Wrestling squad this year has been a work in progress with the loss of some extremely talented seniors. The team is younger this year, with mostly underclassmen. Under Coach O’Connell, the school’s 10 wrestlers have been making a lot of progress and truly becoming more talented in the sport of wrestling.
According to junior Aidan Ormsby, who won his individual match today and has won a lot of matches for the Worcester Academy team this season, “I’m excited to see what we do in the future. It’s definitely a re-building year for the team for sure, but there’s a lot of talent that’ll be put to use in the upcoming seasons.”
So far this season, the team has faced Lawrence Academy, The Governor’s Academy, Northfield Mount Hermon, Deerfield Academy, Choate Rosemary Hall, Tabor Academy, Belmont Hill School, Deerfield Academy and Loomis Chaffee. Over the weekend the team will take on prep schools throughout New England in the Battle on the Bay Tournament at Tabor Academy.
The next time you can support the Hilltoppers at home is when they take on St. Marks and Thayer Academy on January 20th at 3pm in the Daniel’s Gymnasium!
