Why You Should Join the Vignoria

The Vigornia is the title of Worcester Academy’s digital newspaper, run by a club that bears the same name. One of the oldest major clubs offered here, the Vigornia features many authors, editors, social media managers, and club advisors who oversee the website, write articles to be published, and provide exclusive coverage of various campus events. Every year, The Vignoria looks for more editors to join the crew, and as a co-editor of the club myself, here are some reasons why you should join, and even some reasons why I decided to become a co-editor.

1. Potential Leadership Experiences

A great way to build your high school resume and gain leadership skills is by becoming a co-editor for The Vigornia! Whether it is running the social media page or primarily editing articles, there are a lot of ways you can show leadership within this club. As a co-editor, you would be working with fellow student editors and faculty advisors to edit articles, publish them, make posts on social media, and coordinate any stories or events The Vigornia chooses to cover.

2. Major Club Credit

The Vignoria is a major club, which means as long as you meet the attendance and article requirements for the year, you’ll earn an activity credit that the school requires you to get at least two of every year. There aren’t too many ways that you can earn major credits, so it is important to capitalize on the ways you can!

3. Builds a High School Resume for College

When applying for colleges, one of the most important steps you have to take in your application is filling out your activities list, listing all the extracurricular activities you participated in during high school. Did you know that any type of school newspaper or broadcasting club is one of the top clubs that colleges look for? Joining The Vigornia and putting it on your activities list could tremendously boost your application.
