With the arrival of many new history teachers here on the Hilltop, one quiet man from Easthampton, Massachusetts seems to be a favorable one among the student body. Alex Garcia, a 24-year-old dual citizen whose favorite song is “Star67” by Drake is a teacher who is already making his mark on the campus.

While growing up in a town of only 16,000 residents, history became a vitality for Alex. As kid Alex loved studying ancient Greek and Roman history while admiring his idol Alexander the Great for his “smarts” and his ability to conquer.

At a young age, Alex was enrolled at Williston Northampton preparatory school and continued his passion for studying history. He later graduated to Cornell University where he majored in industrial and labor relationships with a minor in classics history and business. Alex, of course, did not just stick to the studying at college; he joined a fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha, and helped run and coach the Cornell football team.

After graduating, Alex was offered a job near Lake Tahoe, California, where he taught SAT prep classes and Spanish. He also coached soccer and basketball there, teaching the kids everything he knows. While there he rescued his cat, named Winnie, and made a search for a job closer to home after around two years down in the California heat. This is when he got his job here at Worcester Academy and he says he loves it.

Mr. Garcia lives on campus and teaches Economics and World Civilizations II while coaching football and freshman basketball.  During his free time, he likes to hang out with his cat and go to the gym where he says he does “all chest no legs.” Mr.Garcia has been a great addition to our school and it is safe to say that we all enjoy having him on campus.
