Hilltoppers Fall Short in Rhode Island
On a sun-drenched, yet unseasonably chilly day in Rumford, Rhode Island, Worcester Academy faced Moses Brown in their first golf match of the year. The match was played at Moses Brown’s home course, Agawam Hunt Club, where both teams came out demonstrating their determination to open the season with a win.
The Moses Brown team, a highly talented group of golfers who have won three out of the last four Rhode Island state championships, played a stellar match. As a whole, the team shot a 157 (counting the top four out of six scores). The Hilltoppers, comprised of a lot of young talent, started Julian Kates ‘20, Dylan Lien ‘19, Jack DiGeronimo ‘19, Joe Gow ‘20, Rory White ‘20, and Angelo Rassias ‘21. The Worcester team put together a very strong first score of 166, although it was not good enough to defeat the accomplished Moses Brown players.
The Hilltoppers next match will be Wednesday 4/18, and the team will travel to Northfield Mount Hermon. In search of their first victory of the season, the Hilltoppers will try to improve their ball striking and short games in the week preceding their next match.
