Short n’ Sweet Deluxe Review

With the success of her album, Short n’ Sweet, Sabrina Carpenter released a deluxe edition on February 14th. This edition includes five new songs, one of which is a remix of “Please Please Please” featuring Dolly Parton. Other listed songs include “15 Minutes,” “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder,” “Busy Woman”, and “Bad Reviews.”

In the past few months, Carpenter has won several awards for her sixth studio album including the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. She also has had a ton of success on her Short n’ Sweet world tour, as attendees have a fun time at Sabrina’s extremely upbeat and entertaining show. Her concerts involve a large set, skits highlighting Carpenter’s comedic side, bright and fashionable costumes, and, of course, the famous “Juno” poses; Carpenter’s hit songs and energetic shows may be reasons why the songstress released the deluxe edition of her album.

The same day the deluxe version of Short n’ Sweet was released, Carpenter published a new music video of “Please Please Please” with Dolly Parton. With a black-and-white 50s  style, Parton and Carpenter are seen riding in a pickup truck in the midst of a police chase. The camera then moves to a man tied up in the back of the truck, appearing to be Carpenter’s ex Barry Keoghan’s character in the original “Please Please Please” video. The kidnapping of his character tells us that he and Sabrina are officially over. This version of the No. 1 hit  also included a line change that fans had wanted for the clean version from “little sucker” to “like the others.”

The other four songs on the album have become very popular. “15 Minutes” and “Busy Woman” are more upbeat, both with bouncy pop melodies and strong lyrics. While “Couldn’t Make It Any Harder” and “Bad Reviews” are slower and more emotional songs, both cover subjects that relate to Carpenter’s personal life.

All of the new songs are super fun and I would definitely recommend giving each of them a listen.
